The Indo-Pacific is the world’s most disaster-prone region. The increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters requires government agencies, militaries and NGOs to consider how they can better prepare and respond to crises together.

Emerging military and civilian defence delegates from Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Australia, Chile, France, New Zealand and the Pacific Fusion Centre explored how military and civilian partnerships promote regional resilience.

The workshop included more than 60 participants and was designed to strengthen RFMF Joint Task Force Command (JTFC) disaster preparedness and response arrangements, in particularly how they can coordinate and support other Government organisations, UN agencies and civil society.

The annual Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Dialogue was held on 19 February 2025 in Canberra. Around 100 representatives from civil society and the Australian Government

The RCG is the region’s premier forum for Governments, civil society, militaries and police to exchange on civil-military-police coordination. ACMC is a member of the RCG co-secretariat. The 10th annual RCG meeting was conducted in Phuket.

The course built participants’ awareness of core POC principles and frameworks and included sessions focussed on the Laws of Armed Conflict, socially inclusive protection approaches, cultural property protection and the implications of climate change for POC.

ACMC’s Executive Director Nicola Rosenblum and Director International and Domestic Engagement, Peter Giugni led a session on developments in civil, military and police coordination in the Pacific and how Australia is working with partners to build regional HADR capabilities.
