ACMC shared early findings from its research on HADR coordination mechanisms in the Pacific, at a Regional Consultative Group on Humanitarian Civil-Military Coordination in the Asia-Pacific (RCG) workshop in Singapore.

ACMC has maintained a strong working relationship with the Solomon Islands National Disaster Management Office through support to various exercises and activities in recent years, including the last NERT Induction Course in 2023

ACMC supported a US-led Disaster Management Workshop in Dili, Timor-Leste.

ACMC hosted representatives from various Timor-Leste disaster response agencies in Darwin to share experiences and knowledge on civil, military and police coordination in disaster response.

ACMC joined counterparts from PNG, Australia and the United States to exchange knowledge, solve problems and build enduring relationships during a four-day disaster management workshop in Port Moresby as part of Ex Pacific Partnership 2025.

Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025 offered ACMC the opportunity to host delegates from the ICRC to visit the ADF’s exercise detention facility to observe a range of scenarios, including the detention of prisoners of war. Under the Law of Armed Conflict, ICRC has the right to undertake humanitarian visits to prisoners of war and civilian internees during armed conflict.

The Indo-Pacific is the world’s most disaster-prone region. The increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters requires government agencies, militaries and NGOs to consider how they can better prepare and respond to crises together.

Emerging military and civilian defence delegates from Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Australia, Chile, France, New Zealand and the Pacific Fusion Centre explored how military and civilian partnerships promote regional resilience.
