ACMC facilitated a dialogue between government and civil society on Women Peace & Security, which discussed the key role of women in peacebuilding, social cohesion and community resilience.

The Dialogue in Canberra was also an opportunity to consider the mid-term review of the implementation of Australia’s WPS National Action Plan (2021-2031) and to discuss priorities in continuing to advance the NAP.

The Dialogue brought together representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Defence, Australian Federal Police along representatives from civil society, including the WPS Civil Society Coalition, Pacific delegates, Australia’s Ambassador for Gender Equality Michelle O’Byrne and Chair of the Australian Syrian Alliance, Somoud Al Masri delivered key presentations.

In addition to delivering this WPS Dialogue, ACMC consistently promotes consideration of WPS issues in its regional engagements.
