ACMC supported Solomon Islands National Emergency Response Team (NERT) Induction Training in Honiara and Guadalcanal Province from 22-28 September 2025. ACMC’s Damian Eaton worked alongside 36 participants from a wide range of civilian and police agencies. The intensive course included a five-day theory and practical training component and a two-day field exercise to test learning objectives in a simulated disaster event.
ACMC has maintained a strong working relationship with the Solomon Islands National Disaster Management Office through support to various exercises and activities in recent years, including the last NERT Induction Course in 2023. Colleagues from the US Center for Excellence in Disaster Management, Pacific Community and UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs also supported this course.
More than 100 people have qualified as NERT members in the Solomon Islands during the last 6 years.
