On Wednesday 8 October 2014, the Vice Chief of the Defence Force (VCDF) – Vice Admiral Ray Griggs AO, CSC, RAN visited the ACMC to meet with and be briefed by ACMC staff.
The ACMC forms a part of the Vice Chief’s Group where it has strong common areas of interest with other divisions, particularly Joint Capability Coordination, Military Strategic Commitments and the Australian Defence College.
The discussion focused on how ACMC, as a knowledge organisation, communicates the importance of civil-military-police coordination. Lessons learned from recent national crisis responses were considered. Staff described the development of ACMC’s lessons learned capability.
The Deputy Executive Director, Mr Elliott explained our 4 core work areas: Preparedness, Lessons Learned, Learning & Development and Research as well as the 3 current thematic work streams: Security Sector Reform, Protection of Civilians and Women, Peace and Security.
The visit was a valuable opportunity for the VCDF to meet ACMC staff particularly our international secondees from Vietnam and Indonesia.
