ACMC hosts Her Excellency Mrs Aikaterini Xagorari and Greek delegation

28 Apr 2016

The ACMC recently hosted Her Excellency (HE), the Ambassador of Greece to Australia, Mrs Aikaterini Xagorari; the Chief of Staff of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, Lieutenant General Konstantinos Gkatzogiannis and Lieutenant Colonel K. Vasilopoulos.  General Gkatzogiannis was visiting Australia as part of the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Crete commemorations.

In an open and friendly exchange, Deputy Executive Director Greg Elliott introduced the Delegation to the ACMC’s role in supporting whole-of-Government collaboration. The visit elicited interest in the unique nature and role of the ACMC in facilitating multi-agency interaction. Discussion ranged across Greece’s recent experience with the ongoing refugee crisis, some Australian observations on the multi-agency nature of Operation Sovereign Borders, and potential opportunities for further collaboration, including Exercise Argonaut in Cyprus (which Australia participates in). The visit enabled the ACMC to showcase related publications and resources, with the international edition of Same Space – Different Mandates and the civil-military-police Language Guide resonating with the Delegation.

ACMC wishes HE Mrs Xagorari; Lieutenant General Gkatzogiannis and his delegation every success with the Battle of Crete 75th anniversary commemorations.
